A. Most Outstanding Children’s Program or Event

Awarded for excellence in production of children’s programming.

B. Most Outstanding Music Program or Coverage

Awarded for excellence in production of music programming including music programs, coverage of bands, festivals and other live performances.

C. Most Outstanding Sports Program or Coverage

Awarded for excellence in production of Australian sports programming and coverage. Including one-off event coverage, telecasts and series coverage.

D. Most Outstanding Documentary

Awarded for excellence in documentary programming. Entries into this category could be a one-off program or a series.

E. Most Outstanding News Program or Coverage

Awarded for excellence in production of news programming and coverage including news events, stories, reports or news programs.

F. Most Outstanding Lifestyle Program

Awarded for excellence in production of lifestyle programming including reality programs. Defined as information based entertainment programming that draws on everyday experiences including food and wine, home and garden, leisure and travel.

G. Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program

Awarded for excellence in production of light entertainment programming including reality programs. Defined as a “Variety style” including game shows, talk shows and other light entertainment or substantially non-scripted program. This definition excludes news and current affairs programs.

H. Most Outstanding Drama

Awarded for excellence in the production of scripted series and programming including drama and comedy programs. Telemovies are eligible in this category.

I. Most Outstanding use of Innovation in Programming

Awarded for outstanding use of innovation in production, presentation or delivery of a program, series, coverage or event.

J. Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor – Male

Awarded to the most outstanding performance by a male actor in an Australian subscription television scripted series or production. This is judged on a single on-camera performance. The actor must have been in an Australian production created by and premiered on subscription television.

K. Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor – Female

Awarded to the most outstanding performance by a female actor in an Australian subscription television scripted series or production. This is judged on a single on-camera performance. The actor must have been in an Australian production created by and premiered on subscription television.

L. Most Outstanding Performance by a Presenter

Awarded to the most outstanding performance by a presenter on Australian subscription television. This is judged on a single on-camera performance.

M. Most Outstanding Performance by a Broadcast Journalist

Awarded to the most outstanding performance by a broadcast journalist in Australian subscription television including news, sports, political and finance reporters. This is judged on a single on-camera performance.

N. Best New Talent

This award is to recognise an outstanding new talent on Australian subscription television. A new talent is an actor, presenter or performer who has made their major TV debut in an Australian subscription television show in 2009. The person must have featured in at least three episodes as one character, reporter or presenter.

O. Favourite Personality

Awarded to the favourite male or female personality on Australian Subscription Television. The personality must have an ongoing role with an Australian based Subscription Television Channel and not be a one-of use for an event.

P. Favourite Program

Awarded to the favourite Subscription Television Program. Can be either a one-off event or a program.

Q. Channel of the Year

Awarded to the most outstanding Australian Subscription Television Channel of 2009.
