Peter Rose

Peter Rose joined FOXTEL as Director of Movies in October 2012.

Peter was the Chief Executive Officer of Showtime from 2003 – 2012 after which  FOXTEL acquired the Showtime Channel.

Commencing his career as Marketing Director of the South Australian Film Corporation in 1976, Peter has held numerous high profile positions within the industry including Head of Marketing and Distribution for Hoyts Theatres; Managing Director of one of Australia’s largest independent producers -Roadshow, Coote & Carroll and Head of Programming and subsequently CEO for the Pay-TV station Galaxy.

Peter was the Executive Vice President of International Marketing for United International Pictures based in London.  During his tenure he oversaw the worldwide marketing strategy for in excess of 50 films a year including Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty, The World Is Not Enough, Gladiator, Shrek and Bridget Jones Diary - to name but a few.

Peter was responsible for the establishment of Hoyts Distribution.  He also set up his own advertising agency specialising in media, leisure and entertainment (which was ultimately taken over by BBDO) and was part of the team that successfully instituted the Pay-TV industry in Australia. 

Peter was a partner and director of the Open Learning Channel and has authored a major Australian study on the use of television and internet in education.

Peter is on the National Film and Sound Archive board and is a NIDA board member.

Peter has an honours degree in economics.
