Kurt Burnette

Kurt is Event Director, Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games, and Chief Revenue Officer, Seven West Media, the leading, listed national multi-platform media business in Australia. It comprises Seven Television, the number one commercial TV network; Pacific Magazines, the nation’s second largest magazine group by readership; Yahoo!7 one of the country’s most successful internet platforms, as well as Western Australia’s leading newspaper, The West Australian and associated WA regional newspapers and radio stations.                                                         

The role is tasked with expanding existing and new partnerships and growing the company’s current advertising revenue streams of over $1 billion across all of the business units, in addition to establishing new revenue opportunities for the organisation. Kurt is responsible for the commercialisation of the group’s rapidly expanding Revenue ecosystem, including the activation of Live Events and the group data initiatives building and deploying data and capabilities as the company expands its presence beyond broadcast television and publishing.

Having secured and delivered exclusive rights to broadcast the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the role involves creating the teams to deliver on the success our acquisition out to 2020 and beyond, as well as the 2018 Home Commonwealth Games on the Gold coast, and Rugby League World Cup in Australia and New Zealand for the entire delivery and monetisation of each event.

Kurt has worked within Seven West Media for close to 26 years in various sales and executive roles. Prior to his appointment as Chief Revenue Officer in October 2013, Kurt guided a team of more than 180 people as Chief Sales and Digital Officer for Seven West Media. Under his management, the Network has dominated the TV market for 8 consecutive years, delivering more than one billion dollars in advertising revenue a year.

During his time as Sports Sales Manager and later Network Director of Sales, Kurt worked on two Rugby World Cups, six Summer and three Winter Olympics including the Sydney, Beijing and Rio Games which remain three of the biggest revenue generating Olympics in Australian television history.

Kurt has a Diploma in marketing and completed executive and leadership development programs at the Australian Graduate School of Management through the University of NSW. More recently Kurt completed the flagship executive program offered by the Stanford Graduate School of Business - the Stanford Executive Program. He is a Board Member for Yahoo!7, Presto and ThinkTV.
